This post is a little different–I’m sorry–I wrote it almost as therapy for myself. I had to, as the title says, “let out the crazy.” I hope it is worth someone’s while:) Thanks for reading!
[To be read in the manner of a southern gospel preacher. Setting: large white tent]
Are you tired of all the tasks and deadlines you see stretching out before you? Do you ever grow weary of the long road you’re traveling, especially as you realize, more and more, that it will only seem longer as you continue? Yes. It’ll seem longer, friends, but it’ll be over before you know it. All the hoops they have you jumping through just to get a piece of paper with your name on it–they will not matter one iota when you reach the end of the road. Have you ever thought, why try?
Well I’m here to tell you. Yes, I’ll tell you what, friend.
There is hope.
[To be read in the manner of my five-year-old niece on a bad day. Action: stomping with both feet repeatedly and clenching fists]
I don’t wanna do any more homework! I don’t wanna talk to people. People are stupid and I don’t want to deal with any of this. I’m done trying!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
Don’t be anxious.
[To be read in the manner of a little old college student in a small dorm room staring at her next assignment; or in the manner of a young graduate starting out in a big, bewildering world wondering what on earth is next; or, in the manner of a helpless, hopeless human looking for Someone truly good to just hold her.]
Father, help! How can my mind be in so many places at once, worrying about so many things at the same time. How can I feel so crazy and helpless, when on the surface, nothing is wrong with my life?
Help me give all these things to you.
In everything, with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
